Russell  Shuben, Ventura County Office

Mr. Shuben began his career in workers’ compensation as a claims adjuster in 1981 and appeared at the WCAB as a hearing representative while attending law school. Mr. Shuben received his Juris Doctor from University of Laverne in 1990 and has 35 years of experience in the Workers’ Compensation industry. He defends insurance carriers and self-insured entities in all aspects of workers’ compensation claims including 132(a) and Serious and Willful claims.

Arin R. Scapa, Los Angeles Office

Arin R. Scapa received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Irvine in 2004 and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of La Verne College of Law in 2010.

Prior to joining Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP, Ms. Scapa worked as a Staff Attorney for The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (The Hartford). It was with The Hartford that Ms. Scapa began practicing insurance defense in the field of workers’ compensation, after having previously practiced criminal law. Ms. Scapa worked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California in the Criminal Division’s Major Frauds Section. There, Ms. Scapa worked exclusively on complex fraud cases, most of which had losses exceeding several million dollars; In addition, Ms. Scapa was a law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, a paralegal for a private criminal defense firm, and an intern for the Orange County Public Defender’s Office.

Ms. Scapa is currently serving on the Board of Governors of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.

Ms. Scapa is a member of the State Bar of California. She is admitted to practice before all California courts, as well as before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Juli  Miles, Sacramento Office

Juli Miles received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University, Sacramento in 1983 and Juris Doctorate from Lincoln Law School in 1991.

Ms. Miles started her career in criminal law and civil litigation prior to practicing workers’ compensation defense. Before joining Goldman, Magdalin and Krikes, LLP, Ms. Miles worked in Workers’ Compensation Law for 17 years with one of the largest Workers’ Compensation defense firms in the United States.

Ms. Miles practices all aspects of workers’ compensation defense, including 132(a) discrimination, Serious and Willful Misconduct, coverage, public entity and appellate issues. Ms. Miles has argued a case before the California Court of Appeals.

Kimberley S. Gaskill, Bay Area Office

Kimberley Gaskill attended Pace University in Pleasantville, NY where she earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science in 2000. She then continued her education at Thomas Jefferson School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2003.

Ms.Gaskill became licensed to practice law in California in 2004, and has practiced in a number of areas during her career, including insurance coverage/bad faith, construction defect, medical malpractice, and general civil litigation. Before joining GMK, she worked as an Applicant’s Attorney in Southern California. Then she went on to spend 8 years as a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney in the Inland Empire. Ms. Gaskill now specializes in workers' compensation defense where she represents carriers, TPA's, and self-insureds, including the defense of Labor Code Sec 132a and Serious & Willful Misconduct claims.

David E. McLinn, Los Angeles Office

David McLinn received his undergraduate degree in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his Juris Doctorate Degree from Southwestern Law School in 2011. Prior to joining Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP, Mr. McLinn worked as staff counsel at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and The Hartford Insurance Group in the field of workers’ compensation defense.

In addition to being a member of the State Bar of California, Mr. McLinn is admitted to the United States District Court, Central District of California.

Sapna  Singh, Bay Area Office

Sapna Singh was admitted to the California State in December 2001. Prior to joining Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP, she has worked as in-house counsel for two insurance companies, as well as an applicant attorney. Having worked on both sides, Ms. Singh uses her experience to focuses on early settlements. She graduated from Santa Clara University 2001 with an LLM degree. She is a certified legal specialist in Worker's Compensation law since 2014. Ms. Singh proudly volunteers her time as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for kids in the dependency system and is the current President on the Board of San Mateo Community Colleges Foundation.

David B. Kerrane, Orange County Office

Mr. Kerrane received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego, and his Juris Doctor from University of San Diego, School of Law. Mr. Kerrane was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1998.

Mr. Kerrane started his career at a well-known insurance company as a claims adjuster, handling auto collision and homeowner’s liability claims. Following his graduation from law school in 1998, Mr. Kerrane practiced both civil litigation and Workers’ Compensation defense. He has extensive experience defending against industrial injury claims, as well as discrimination and serious and willful petitions. His civil litigation experience includes contract disputes, employment, wage and hour law, premises liability, and probate\elder abuse cases. Mr. Kerrane has successfully obtained defense verdicts and favorable judgments both at trial and binding arbitration. He continues to work in the workers’ compensation arena representing both large and small employers and their carriers. He has appeared before all Southern California workers’ compensation boards, as well as several Northern California boards.

Mr. Kerrane is also an experienced public speaker having presented Workers’ Compensation seminars to many clients.
